Frequently Asked Questions
How Many Products Can You Shoot In A Day
The amount of images we can shoot in a day depends on:
a) The variety of styling, eg if you want everything shot in the same set or if you want a variety of styling
b) The type of products you have
c) The range of the types of products. For example its quicker to shoot 50 cushions that are all the same size than to shoot a variety of bags, keyrings, candles etc as the styling and set will change for each product.
On average I shoot around 20-30 products and deliver approx 50 images (individual, group & close up). We usually have 2-3 sets per shoot. Each shoot is tailored to your needs. When you send me information about what you are after, I can tell you how many shoot days will be needed.
What format will I get the images in
I send the images as
- high resolution jpegs, which are suitable for printing & cropping.
- web ready jpegs, which can be uploaded online
These are sent via WeTransfer.
What are your crop suggestions
I suggest shooting the image portrait & styling for a square crop. This means you'll have lots of content for social media (think IG stories, Pinterest, postcards & ads) and your website listings. I would suggest also shooting 3-4 banners for your website too.
How far in advance do I need to book
I would advise enquiring 3-6 weeks in advance for any product or seasonal launches. This gives us enough time to discuss your requirements, source any specific props or backgrounds needed, and make sure we’re prepared for your photoshoot.
What’s your process?
Send me a message using my contact form with information about your requirements:
- A List of your products
- The shots you require
- Inspiration reference imagesI will suggest a package suitable for you.
Once you’ve agreed on the service, you will receive an invoice for the 50% deposit. This fee secures the shoot date.
We refine the shot list and order in any additional props or backgrounds we may need.
I shoot your products
I edit the images and send them to you. If you have posted your items, I will package them up and return them. The final 50% payment is due.
Do I need to be present at the shoot?
I would love it if you can come to the shoot! My clients really enjoy being part of the shoot process. It's also handy to have an extra pair of hands to help unpack and guide us through the products, especially for group shots - no one knows your products better that you! It's also a great opportunity for you to create some social media content on your phone: think BTS images and videos.
I understand it might not be practical to come to the shoot, so you can post me the products in advance and we can work remotely.
What time is the shoot
If you are coming to the shoot, please arrive at 9.30am
For half day shoots, we will finish at 12.30pm
For full day shoots we will finish at 4.30pm.
Shipping information for remote shoots
Please post the products & props one week before the photoshoot via Royal Mail to:
Diana Stainton, 72 Millmead Business Centre, Millmead Road, London, N17 9QU
I want to move my shoot date
Sometimes there can be delays in production which can't be helped or anticipated. I ask that you give me 2 weeks notice (14 days) if you need to move your shoot date. After this, I require an admin fee for £50 to rearrange. This covers some my studio costs.
I want to cancel my shoot
Once a deposit has been paid and you decide to cancel, the deposit is non refundable.
Why do you sometimes suggest working with a stylist?
If the styling is complex, there are is wide variety of products, a lot of props / backgrounds to source or colour palettes to work out, I may suggest getting a stylist on board. Having two people on the shoot dedicated to different tasks means we can shoot more images and have more creative and interesting styling set ups. I can concentrate on lighting, composition and camera angles, whilst the stylist selects props, arranges the scene and works out the shot list.
